Professor Siu-Lai Chan
Chair Professor in Computational Structural Engineering at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.Adjunct professor of Tongji University Shanghai, CHINA since 2007,Adjunct Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, CHINA since 2004,Visiting Professor at Southeast University, Nanjing, CHINA since 1995,and Visiting Associate Professor at Purdue University, U.S.A. in 1993.
Prof SL Chan is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE) - Registered Professional Engineer in Hong Kong(RPE) - Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, U.K. (MIStructE) - Chartered Engineer, U.K.(CEng) -Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia (MIEAust) - Chartered and Professional Engineer, Australia (CPEng).
His interests lie in Steel Structure, Analysis and Design of Steel Structures, Second-order Analysis, Nonlinear Analysis, Buckling, Stability, Glass Structures, Scaffoldings, Fire in Steel Structures.
Professor Leroy Gardner
Professor of Structural Engineering and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of both the Institutions of Civil (FICE) and Structural (FIStructE) Engineers.
Prof Gardner is actively involved in both the Institutions of Civil and Structural Engineers. He is Chair of the IStructE Research Panel, Vice Chair of the North Thames Regional Group and Member of the Academic Qualifications Panel, the Papers Awards Judging Panel and the Structural Futures Committee.
He is also Editor-in-Chief of the ICE Structures and Buildings Journal, the International Journal of Steel Structures, and the new research journal of the Institution of Structural Engineers - 'Structures'.
His principal research interests lie in the areas of structural testing, numerical modelling and the development of design guidance for steel structures. In particular, through his involvement in European and other research projects, he has devised methods for designing with non-linear materials and has contributed to the formulation of design rules for Eurocode 3. He is a member of the European and BSI Committees responsible for Eurocode 3.
Stephen McCrory
Stephen is an honours graduate of Queens University Belfast in Chemical Engineering with Diploma of Imperial College and Postgraduate Master's Degree from Imperial College in General Structural Engineering from the Advanced Structural Engineering cluster. He is a Corporate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Chartered Civil Engineer with the Engineering Council.
Having spent twenty successful years as a full time civil/structural design engineer director and multi-discipline civil engineering project manager director, he progressed in 2011 to specialise in his field of engineering under the supervision of IR Professor SL Chan and Prof Leroy Gardner for research of nonlinear analysis. Stephen is currently a Director within the NIDA team developing business, executing key projects. publishing articles, delivering lectures and participating in R&D.
Sam Chan
BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering at the The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Consultant specialist since Jan 2011 with Research Engineering Development Façade Consultants Limited; T1/T3 inspection of tempered glass since Jan 2012 with Research Engineering Development Façade Consultants Limited. Sam is experienced in project management, facade design, and steel structures and so on. His interests are technology promotion, steel design training and numerical modelling.
Dr. Yao-Peng LIU
Dr. Liu is currently the Research Fellow at Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received PhD (Structural) from Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Master (Engineering) & Bachelor (Science) Degrees from Sun Yat-Sen University. He is also the member of The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction (HKISC). He is experienced in steel structures, numerical analysis, facade engineering, finite element analysis, computer programing and project management.
Dr. Si-Wei LIU
Dr. Liu is currently the Postdoctoral Fellow at Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received PhD (Structural) from Civil and Environmental Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Bachelor (Civil) Degree from Sun Yat-Sen University. He is also the member of The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction (HKISC). He is experienced in steel, reinforced concrete and composite structures, finite element analysis, numerical simulations and computer programing.
